Aboriginal arts occupy the full spectrum of practices – sacred and ceremonial, community-based, amateur and professional, traditional and contemporary. Project Rebirth is designed to provide sustainable way for indigenous peoples to get authentic products to the consumers at a fair price and increase the visibility of the products in the market.
How and why was the project initiated?
While looking for authentic Canadian gifts, it is difficult to find something reasonably priced and something which is not 'Made in China and marketed in Canada'. This came off as a big gap which project Rebirth addresses.
With the residential school episode, most TAK would become extinct with the older generation and this is an attempt to create a channel for passing on and nurturing Traditional Aboriginal Knowledge(TAK) to present generation while instilling pride and respect for the ancient indigenous culture and lifestyle. communities to discuss, organize and plan ways to protect their indigenous knowledge.
This project gives the Alberta government a genuine platform to right the wrong of residential schools which is a sustainable business model beyond the technical oil and gas training.
Who will use the final deliverable of the project?
The authentic products created by Aboriginals will be sold in the local, national and international market to people who want authentic Canadian products for personal use and gifting.

In phase I, Project Rebirth will be run as a pilot project to do the feasibility study of this sustainable business model
Phase II, the project will be applied across province of Alberta to the Aboriginal communities interested in participating
Phase III, collaborations and strengthening of the business structure to sustain this model long term
